Boston Celtics take a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals over the Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic's historic performance not enough to stop Celtics' juggernaut

The Boston Celtics took a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals on Tuesday night, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 at the TD Garden. The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum's 28 points, while Luka Doncic finished with 26 points for the Mavericks.

The Celtics jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 25 points in the second half. The Mavericks made a late run in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. The Celtics defense was suffocating, holding the Mavericks to just 36.8% shooting from the field.

Doncic was the only Maverick who was able to consistently get to the basket, but he was often met with a wall of Celtics defenders. The Celtics also did a good job of limiting Doncic's passing lanes, forcing him to take difficult shots.

The Celtics now have a 2-0 lead in the series and can take a 3-0 lead with a win in Game 3 on Thursday night in Dallas.
